The classic Negroni at Contrast Public House in Göteborg costs 165 kronor and tastes perfectly okay, but lacks the sweetness and orange flavour I’m looking for. The bitterness is adequate rather than impressive. The balance, however, is one of the drink’s stronger points, and despite my reservation, the sweetness earns a good score in its own right. The glass feels plasticky, although the choice of glassware gets a good rating overall. The ice is a more obvious weakness: the cubes are too small. It’s a Negroni that does the job, but both the ice and the missing flavour notes detract from the experience. The overall score comes to 6.6 out of 10.
